Royal Whites are height to weight proportionate framed sheep, not wool/hair mixed fiber sheep, being called hair sheep, all sheep shed some fiber, hair is a hollow fiber, wool is a solid fiber. The larger frame help eliminate the prolapse, lambing problems, leg and hoove problems of short legged ewes, they stay stay cooler being higher off the ground, as well as more lamb carrying capacity and better foraging capabilities for feed, and longer legged ewes have better leverage to get off the ground to clean up their just new born lambs. The pure hair born lambs allow faster cleanup by their mothers at birth, thus gaining a survival advantage. Some say that a hollowed hair fibered animal may absorb sunrays, thus vitamins from the sun better as well vs solid fibered wool sheep, Royals are high in parasite resistance, versus wool breeds and wool/hair blended shedding sheep. These sheep have nice length necks for foraging and well formed heads for less lambing problems. They don't ever need sheared, since they are pure hair covered, unlike many wool/hair types that typically need sheared of wool on their backs, which some claim the wool protects them from sunburn on their backs and less external parasites and debris like cockle-burrs, needle and spear grass contamination.. Royals are designed for hardiness and overall performance, high lamb survival, fast growth on grass or feedlot environments, but do well in shows if their allowed in shows, they are intimidating and very intelligent for sheep. They are polled and flockers and ship well with low stress.
